Shoulder pain

A shoulder that won’t cooperate.

Trouble lifting your arm, weakness, or pain when you sleep on that side can make simple tasks feel hard.

The shoulder is a complex structure of bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments, with two main joints working together for a huge range of motion. That complexity also makes it easy to injure: nearly half of Americans have shoulder pain at some point.

Your first visit

We listen to your history (when and how the pain began), then examine how the joint moves, the balance of the muscles and your posture. If needed, we refer you for X-rays or other imaging.

Often, it starts in the mid-back

We often find that a stiff thoracic spine (mid-back) makes the shoulder work harder. In those cases, adjustments to restore movement in the spine can take stress off the shoulder. Every plan is made for you and may combine gentle adjustments with other therapies.
